Lubricating the Bearings
and Seals
Service Interval: After each use—Lubricate the
trunnions.
Monthly—Lubricate the pillow-block bearings.
Note:
The pillow-block bearings are inside the
cowl—remove the divider plate if equipped) to access
them; refer to
Removing the Divider Plate (page
Grease Type: No. 2 lithium grease.

Clean the area around each grease fitting with a
rag and lift the plastic cap off the grease fitting
(Figure
36).

Pump grease into each fitting as follows:
•
For the pillow-block bearings, pump 1 shot of
grease into each fitting
•
For the trunnions, pump several shots of
grease into each fitting until it starts to ooze
out of the bearing housing
Important:
Pump grease in slowly and
carefully to prevent damage to the bearing
seals.
Wipe up any excess grease.
