3.3.2.3. Gate Time
The Gate Time parameter is used to adjust the length of a note. Potential values are from
1% (short) to 99% (long), with additional settings of TIE and SLIDE. These values can be set
independently for each step in a sequence.
A setting of TIE does different things for the CV/Gate output and over MIDI:
CV/Gate output: the note that follows a TIE will change the control voltage but
will not send a new gate signal to the attached device.
MIDI output: the Note Off command for the first note happens after the Note On
command for the second note. This allows for "legato" playing on a monophonic
synthesizer.
A setting of SLIDE (SLd) is similar to TIE over MIDI, but has a different behavior in CV:
The note that follows a SLIDE will change the control voltage in a continuous
way, with a slide time of approximately 60ms regardless of the tempo. This
allows for the usual Slide effect that was found on vintage bass sequencers, for
instance.
