DRIVEABILITY - DIESEL
Symptom:
P0520-OIL PRESS SENSOR CKT MALF SIGNAL VOLTAGE TOO

LOW

When Monitored and Set Condition:

P0520-OIL PRESS SENSOR CKT MALF SIGNAL VOLTAGE TOO LOW

When Monitored: With the engine running.
Set Condition: The ECM detects the Oil Pressure Sensor Signal voltage below 0.1 volt for
more than 3 seconds.
CHECK THE OIL PRESSURE SENSOR
ECM - OIL PRESSURE SENSOR SIGNAL SHORT TO GROUND
OIL PRESSURE SENSOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND
OIL PRESSURE SENSOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT SHORTED TO SENSOR GROUND
INTERMITTENT CONDITION
TEST
1
Turn the ignition on.
With the DRBIII , erase ECM DTCs.
Cycle the ignition key on and off several times, leaving the key on for at least 10
seconds at a time.
With the DRBIII , read ECM DTCs.
Did this DTC set again?
Yes → Go To 2
→ Go To 5
No

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Oil Pressure Sensor harness connector.
Measure the voltage of the Oil Pressure Sensor Signal circuit.
Is the voltage between 4.7 and 5.3 volts?
Yes → Replace the Engine Oil Pressure Sensor.
→ Go To 3
No
3
Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the ECM harness connectors.
Disconnect the Oil Pressure Sensor harness connector.
Measure the resistance between ground and the Oil Pressure Sensor Signal circuit.
Is the resistance above 100 kohms?
Yes → Go To 4
→ Repair the Oil Pressure Sensor Signal circuit for a short to

Perform ROAD TEST VERIFICATION - VER-2.
