DRIVEABILITY - DIESEL
Symptom:
P0460-FUEL LEVEL SENSOR CIRCUIT SIGNAL VOLTAGE TOO
LOW
When Monitored and Set Condition:

P0460-FUEL LEVEL SENSOR CIRCUIT SIGNAL VOLTAGE TOO LOW

When Monitored: With the ignition on.
Set Condition: The Fuel Level Sensor Signal voltage is below 0.15 volt.
INTERMITTENT CONDITION
FUEL LEVEL SENSOR
FUEL LEVEL SENSOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND
FUEL LEVEL SENSOR SIGNAL AND GROUND CIRCUITS SHORTED TOGETHER
ENGINE CONTROL MODULE
TEST
1
Turn the ignition on.
With the DRB, erase ECM DTCs.
Turn the ignition off, wait 10 seconds, then turn the ignition on.
With the DRB, read ECM DTCs.
Did this DTC set again?
Yes → Go To 2
→ Go To 6
No

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Fuel Level Sensor harness connector.
Turn the ignition on.
With the DRB, read the Fuel Level Sensor voltage.
Is the voltage above 4.8 volts?
Yes → Replace the Fuel Level Sensor in accordance with the Service
→ Go To 3
No

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the ECM harness connectors.
Disconnect the Fuel Level Sensor harness connector.
Measure the resistance between ground and the Fuel Level Sensor Signal circuit.
Is the resistance above 100 kohms?
Yes → Go To 4
→ Repair the Fuel Level Sensor Signal circuit for a short to ground.
No

Perform ROAD TEST VERIFICATION - VER-2.
Perform ROAD TEST VERIFICATION - VER-2.
