Attaching the convertible free motion quilting foot
1
Attach the convertible free motion quilting foot and make
sure that the needle enters the center of the hole in the
foot (refer to page 75).
Adjust the height of the foot by turning the round nut until
the bottom of the foot barely touches top of quilt layers.
Use the straight stitch needle plate. See page 72.
Changing the foot
This foot comes with the closed-toe foot attached,
however it is convertible to the open-toe foot and clear
5
view foot.
To change the foot, raise the foot and turn the round nut
to bring the foot to the lowest position.
Remove the setscrew and remove the closed-toe foot.
Attach the desired foot and secure it with the setscrew.
Adjust the height of the foot (see above).
NOTE:
Only the clear view foot can be used for zigzag stitches.
Sewing
Baste or pin the quilt layers. Draw a quilt design on the
top fabric with a washable maker.
Sew at medium speed while guiding the quilt layers with
your hands.
Move the quilt layers 3 mm (1/8") or less per stitch.
Do not select any pattern other than the straight stitch
with center needle position when the closed-toe or
open-toe foot is attached.
Do not move or pull the quilt layers toward you quickly
or with force when the open-toe foot is attached because
this may cause the needle to break.
