9.6 Checking gas paths for leaks
Procedure: Devices with hoses
1. Close the reference gas inlet and, for versions with an external reference gas pump, also the
bypass outlet.
2. Connect a pressure measuring instrument (manometer) to the sample gas outlet.
3. Carefully apply pressure of approximately 1 500 hPa (absolute pressure) to the sample gas
inlet.
4. Then close the sample gas inlet.
5. Wait for approximately 51 minutes until the test gas that flowed in has reached the ambient
temperature and the pressure remains stable.
Note the pressure.
6. Wait an additional 5 minutes and note the pressure again.
If the pressure change is less than 28 hPa, or for variants with external reference gas pump
under 34 hPa, the sample gas path is adequately tight.
This value is based on the tare volume of the measuring module 7 ml and the volume of the
pressure measuring device of 23 ml.

Checking ULTRAMAT 7 for leaks

NOTICE
Maximum permissible reference gas pressure
Ensure that the pressure of the introduced sample and reference gas does not exceed 2600 hPa
(absolute) for a piped configuration.
Note
Test values
The test values have been defined under the assumption that the total volume of the gas path
in the analyzer module and in the connection line of the pressure measuring device amounts to
80 ml.
Procedure
1. Close the sample gas/reference gas outlet.
2. Connect the sample gas/reference gas outlet to a pressure measuring instrument
(manometer).
3. Pressurize the sample gas/reference gas path with overpressure of 100 hPa.
4. Wait for approximately 1 minute until the sample gas/reference gas reaches the ambient
temperature.
