3.2

On-Screen Keyboard

The on-screen keyboard is used to enter text in a text field.
Editing Text
User can edit entered text and use menu commands to cut, copy, and paste text within or across
applications. Some applications do not support editing some or all of the text they display; others may
offer their own way to select text.
Entering Numbers, Symbols and Special Characters
To enter numbers and symbols:
Without switching to the Numbers or Symbols keyboard, it is possible to tap and hold one of the
top-row keys until a menu appears then select a number. Keys with alternate characters display an
ellipsis ( ... ) below the character.
By tapping the Shift key, the user enters a capital letter.
When the user taps and holds the Shift key until it changes state (Shift key is underlined), the user
enters two or more capital letters. By tapping the Shift key again, the user returns to the lowercase
keyboard.
By tapping
, the user switches to the numbers and symbols keyboard.
By tapping the
key on the numbers and symbols keyboard, the user views additional symbols.
To enter special characters, tap and hold a number or symbol key to open a menu of additional
symbols.
A larger version of the key displays briefly over the keyboard.
Keys with alternate characters display an ellipsis ( ... ) below the character.
