Intelligent Fast-Charging System
4.5.2. Ground Wire
4.5.2.1. The ground wire is green or green with a yellow stripe and attached to the provided
compression lug.
4.5.3. Output Wire
4.5.3.1. See Table 2, Table 3, Table 4, Table 5, Table 6, and Table 7 for the wiring size (American wire gauge
[AWG]) and additional information.
4.5.3.2. Use a thermoplastic high-heat–resistant nylon-coated (THHN) wire or a similar type, 600V, 90 °C,
suitable for conduit use.
4.5.3.3. Use only UL-approved conductors.
4.5.4. Chassis Ground
4.5.4.1. See Table 2, Table 3, Table 4, Table 5, Table 6, and Table 7 for wiring size (AWG) and
additional information.
4.5.4.2. Use a THHN wire or a similar type, 600V, 90 °C, suitable for conduit use.
4.5.4.3. Use only UL-approved conductors.
4.5.5. Wire, 120 VAC
4.5.5.1. The 120 VAC is from an isolated supply, limited to 10 amps, and is used only for internal loads.
The wire is connected to a terminal block that can accept solid wire.
4.5.5.2. This wire must be AWG 14 and THHN or a similar type, have a temperature rating of 75–90 °C and
a voltage of 600V, and be suitable for conduit use.
4.5.5.3. See Table 5 for additional information.

4.6. Grounding

4.6.1. The DVS power station (power station one) must be connected to an equipment-grounding
conductor routed with the circuit conductors. Connections must comply with all local codes
and ordinances. Power station one always will be the controlling power station.
4.6.2. The DVS must be grounded in accordance with the Facilities Utility grounding method.
4.6.3. See Table 2, Table 3, Table 4 and Table 7 for the minimum ground wire (grounding conductor) size.
4.6.4. Figure 14 illustrates the grounding connections.
4.6.5. Power station two is grounded by using the output-grounding stud in power station one.
4.6.6. Power station three is grounded via power station two, and power station four is grounded via power
station three, using the grounding stud provided in the wiring compartment in each power station.

4.7. Control and Communication Cables

Control and communication cables must meet the following requirements.
4.7.1. The cable construction shall be suitable to be run in the conduit.
4.7.2. Conductor wire size shall be no less that 18 AWG with a minimum voltage rating of 300V and a
minimum temperature rating of 75 ºC.
