MAINTENANCE NOTICE 2 SAFETY IMPORTANT INFORMATION Always read the maintenance notice before working on the valve Failure to observe these instructions can result in serious bodily injury or loss of life. DANGER! This can also result in less serious injuries or damage to the equipment. CAUTION! Electricity can result in serious bodily injury or loss of life.
This operation must be performed using a special tool ensuring that the necessary precautions are taken. (CAUTION: stressed spring) CAUTION! NOTE: After carrying out any maintenance work on DEFINOX products it is essential that you check the correct function of the equipment concerned: tightness, pressure, etc. IMPORTANT CAUTION: In the lower section of the valve, NEVER BLOCK or RESTRICT the flow from the LEAKAGE CHAMBER.
MAINTENANCE NOTICE 4 DISASSEMBLING THE VALVE Before starting the disassembly procedure, if the valve is fitted with a signalling unit it may be necessary to detach the signalling system from the actuator. DISMANTLING THE SIGNALLING BOX Dismantling without disconnection CAUTION: Before starting any work on the box, it is important to ensure that the air supply is closed and that the circuit is purged.
• Interrupt the air supply to the actuator (the valve returns to a closed position). • Remove the isolation (pneumatic actuator) assembly [A] from the body of the VEOX PMO [45]. • Disassemble the lower clamp collar [46] and remove the protector [47].
MAINTENANCE NOTICE DISASSEMBLING THE VEOX BREAKAWAY ACTUATOR (to change the seals and rings if required) • Remove the screws [33] attaching the breakaway actuator body [28]. • Unscrew the lower plug breakaway piston shaft [30]. • Remove the breakaway piston rod [31]. •...
MAINTENANCE NOTICE DISASSEMBLING VEOX PMO LOWER PLUGS • Screw the protection screw [79] onto the actuator rod [1] to protect the tapped hole. • Using a plug valve wrench [75] on the lower plug side [58] and the holding wrench [77] on the flats on the actuator rod side [1], unscrew the lower plug sub-assembly of the pneumatic actuator [55].

MAINTENANCE NOTICE DISASSEMBLING THE MAIN PNEUMATIC ACTUATOR • Disassemble the air pipes [13] and [14] from the upper plug supply. • Position the actuator sub-assembly [55] on the press. (See drawing below). • Ensure that the stroke of the press is adapted to dimensions [A] and [B]. •...
MAINTENANCE NOTICE DISASSEMBLING THE LANTERN SUB-ASSEMBLY • Hold the clamp pin [8] with the clamp pin guide [78] held in a vice. • Unscrew the breakaway piston nut [6] using a plug valve wrench [76]. • Release the nut [6], the breakaway piston [7] and the clamp pin [8] on the lantern assembly [9].
MAINTENANCE NOTICE DISASSEMBLING THE SHAFT/PISTON SUB-ASSEMBLY • Screw the protection screw [79] onto the actuator rod [1] to protect the tapped hole. • Release the set screw [4] on the nut [3]. • Unscrew the main piston [5] screw [3] using a plug valve wrench [76] and the holding wrench [77].
5 REASSEMBLING THE VEOX PMO VALVE REPLACING FAULTY COMPONENTS OR SEALS ON THE PLUGS 5.1.1 CHANGING THE PLUG SEALS ON THE VEOX PMO PLUGS. CAUTION: It is essential that you disassemble the lower plug before replacing the seals located on the upper plug.
