Transducer description

The Simrad MS70 transducer is a short cylindrical container with 800 transducer elements.
The transducer elements are located at the "bottom" of the transducer. The transducer cables
are provided as 25 individual cables in three bundles. Each cable is terminated in a large
male connector.
The Simrad MS70 transducer face is plane, and consists
of a ceramic-polymer composite matrix. The matching
transformer for each transducer element is located
inside the transducer. This allows for a low impedance
connection to the Transceiver Unit. The transducer is
connected to the rear side of the three TRXU subracks in
the Transceiver Unit using 25 cables.
The maximum length of the transducer cables is 30 meters,
while the minimum length is 15 meters. The transducer
cables can not be spliced.
Note
The required length of the cables to fit each specific installation must be determined before
the transducer is ordered.
If the transducer is installed in a drop keel, the transducer cables must be protected. Each
cable must be fitted with a protective hose. The protective hose starts inside the transducer.
Protection must be used along the entire length of the cables, and all the way up to where the
cables penetrate the hull.
