TOWING THE VEHICLE

The vehicle is equipped with a
screw-in towing eye for the front
and rear, for attaching a tow rope.
The towing eye is stored in the
left-hand side trim in the luggage
compartment, and must always be
carried in the vehicle.
The screw-in towing eye
has a left-hand thread.
Install it by turning
anticlockwise. Use the
wheelbrace to ensure the towing
eye is fully tightened.
Insert your finger into the hole on
the underside of the cover and prise
off the cover. Install the towing eye.
After use, unscrew the towing eye
and re-insert the cover.
When towing always drive off slowly
and smoothly without jerking the
towing vehicle. Excessive tow rope
tension could result in damage to
either vehicle.
Note: Switch on the hazard flashers
of both vehicles.
Roadside emergencies
Ensure the towing eye is screwed in fully
and tightened using the wheel nut wrench
as a lever (1/4 of a turn) to avoid the risk
of the thread being damaged or the towing
eye becoming loose and coming off in
the process of towing. Never tow the
vehicle or lash it down at any of the
suspension elements, as this may cause
damage which might affect the safety of
the vehicle.
For towing it is advisable to use a nylon
rope or tape as these are more effecient
at absorbing sudden tensile loads.
Always remove the towing eye after use.
Failure to do so could affect the operation
of the suplementry restraint system.
