GENERAL POINTS ON

STARTING

The starter will not operate for
longer than 30 seconds during each
start cycle. Release the ignition
key/ignition switch as soon as the
engine has started. If the engine has
not started, return the ignition
key/ignition switch to position 0
and repeat the starting procedure.
Repeat starter inhibitor:
Before the starter motor
can be operated a second time,
the ignition key/ignition switch
must be returned to position 0.
If the engine does not start,
refer to the instructions
regarding the fuel injection
system shut-off switch on
page 152.
Vehicles with a petrol engine
If the battery has been
disconnected the vehicle may
exhibit some unusual driving
characteristics for approximately
8 km after battery reconnection.
This is because the engine
management system must realign
itself with the engine. Any unusual
driving characteristics during this
period may be disregarded.
Engine speed limiter
The engine speed is limited
electronically to protect the engine.
