Preparing for installation
For the installation dimensions, see document
Design specifications for constructing the
hydraulic cylinder.
Bore: The BMD microwave positioning sensor is fastened
in a bore hole, with sealing accomplished using an O-ring
and support ring.
M5 thread (2×): For assembly and disassembly of the
sensor in the cylinder (see Fig. 4-2).

Installing the microwave positioning sensor
NOTICE
Damage to the sensor
If during installation (e.g. using a press) force is exerted
on the brass or plastic surfaces, the sensor can be
damaged.
► Use force only on the stainless steel
Interference in working principle
Improper installation can compromise the working
principle of the sensor.
► Observe the installation specification.
► Seal the grub screw holes (see Fig. 4-1).
► The contact surface (see Fig. 3-1) of the microwave
positioning sensor
must be on the cylinder!
Cable damage
While installing, the connection cable can become
damaged.
► Carefully use the cable pull to guide the cable into
the cylinder and cable duct, making sure that it
cannot be pinched into the installation space when
the sensor is installed.
An installation fixture is available for installing the
sensor in the hydraulic cylinder (see Accessories
on page 15).
For available adapters, see Adapter JST – M12,
4-pinon page 14.
Installation in single-piece cylinders
Installation is from the piston rod side (see Fig. 4-3) and
can be accomplished using an installation fixture (see
Accessories on page 15).
Fig. 4-3:
Installation in single-piece cylinders
Installation in two-piece cylinders
Installation is from the cylinder head side (see Fig. 4-4).
The microwave positioning sensor can be pressed into
position using a standard press.
