BATCHFLUX 3200 C

4.1 General notes

The circuits are not galvanically isolated from ground (housing).
The connecting cable is in conformity with the applicable installation standard EN 60079-14. The
temperature rating of the cable is equal to or better than -40 ... +90 °C.
• The connecting cable must be fixed and laid so it is sufficiently protected against damage.
• The shield must be carefully insulated against each core and against ground (test voltage
500 V
eff

4.2 Power supply

The electromagnetic flowmeter does require a power supply unit complying with standards for a
safety separation from hazardous voltage (SELV / PELV) (e. g. IEC 60950-1).
The power supply may only be connected by means of the permanently connected cable.
INFORMATION!
The power supply circuit is connected to ground inside the equipment. To avoid circulating
current the power supply circuit shall not be connected to ground at the connection side.

4.3 Inputs/outputs

The RS485 interface assignment is described in the Standard Installation and Operation
Instructions.
The RS485 circuit may only be connected by means of the permanently connected cable to a
standard RS485 interface complying with the requirements for a safety sparation from
hazardous voltage (SELV).
INFORMATION!
The RS485 circuit is connected to ground inside the equipment. To avoid circulating current the
RS485 circuit shall not be connected to ground at the connection side.

4.4 Grounding and equipotential bonding

The electromagnetic flowmeter shall be connected to the equipotential bonding of the hazardous
area by using the external ground connection facility. The position of the external ground
connection facility is next to the cable entry.
For connecting the bonding conductor to the housing a ring cable lug suitable for a M5 screw
shall be used. Connection to the equipotential bonding of the hazardous area provides a safe
grounding of the equipment.
DANGER!
A missing connection to the equipotential bonding system may cause the danger of electrostatic
charging of the metallic parts and the risk of an ignition of a present explosive atmosphere.
