Cleaning and disinfecting

In order to prevent nosocomial infections, prefer vinyl or polyester slings. In the case
of severe risk, discard the old sling and use a new one.
Good cleaning and maintenance practices allow a longer life and upmost security of the
slings.
•
Slings must be washed separately, allowing a cleaning without machine drying with
standard cleaning products.
•
The washing temperature and the allowed products for cleaning are indicated on the
label.
•
Never use autoclaves.
•
Air dry or on a flat surface, never use a dryer.
The polyurethane and polyester slings are "softened" when dried or when
washed in washing tunnels. This reduces their efficiency and their lifespan as it
may cause serious shear to the sling.

Periodic inspection and preventive maintenance

The preventive maintenance for the slings must be performed regularly every six (6) months,
according to annex B of the EN ISO 10535 standard and the recommendations from the
competent health authorities.
1. Check the readability of the label.
2. Check carefully for wear and damage to the following:
