(8) Transmission Temperature
The transmission temperature
gauge indicates the temperature of
the transmission oil during opera-
tion. Maximum operating oil tem-
perature is 250
temperature exceeds this maxi-
mum, CHECK TRANS light (29) will
turn on. As quickly as safety will permit, bring the
truck to a complete stop away from traffic, move trans-
mission range selector to "Neutral", apply the parking
brake, and run engine at high idle. Continue to run
engine at high idle until transmission oil temperature
o
cools to below 250

return to this range within a few minutes, report the
condition immediately to maintenance personnel and
wait for further instructions before moving truck.
(9) Water Temperature
The engine water temperature
gauge indicates the temperature of
the coolant in the engine's cooling
system. The temperature range af-
ter engine warm-up and truck oper-
ating under normal conditions,
should be 165

Coolant Temperature light (34) will turn on. As quickly
as safety will permit, bring the truck to a complete
stop away from traffic, move transmission range selec-
tor to "Neutral", apply the parking brake, and shut down
engine. Report the condition immediately to mainte-
nance personnel and wait for further instructions be-
fore moving truck.
(10) Transmission Oil Pressure
The transmission oil pressure gauge
indicates main pressure in the trans-
mission clutch apply circuit. Normal
operating pressure after warm-up
should be 170 to 210 psi (1172-1448
kPa). If transmission oil pressure
falls below this range with engine
operating at 800 RPM or higher, bring the truck to a
complete stop safely away from traffic, move transmis-
sion range selector to "Neutral", apply the parking
brake, and shut down engine. Report the condition
immediately to maintenance personnel and wait for
further instructions before moving truck.

If engine oil pressure falls below 6 psi (41 kPa),
Engine Oil Pressure light (37) will turn on. As quickly
as safety will permit, bring the truck to a complete
stop away from traffic, move transmission range selec-
tor to "Neutral", apply the parking brake, and shut down
engine. Report the condition immediately to mainte-

brake, and run engine at high idle. Continue to run
engine at high idle until Brake Oil Temperature Warning
light turns off and brake oil temperature cools to below

range within a few minutes, report the condition imme-
diately to maintenance personnel and wait for further
instructions before moving truck.
(13) Voltmeter
(14) Speedometer
The speedometer indicates the truck speed in miles per
hour (MPH) and kilometers per hour (km/h).
Operation - Section 3
The engine oil pressure gauge indi-
cates engine lube oil pressure.
Normal operating pressure after en-
gine warm-up should be:
Low idle; 20 psi (138 kPa),
Rated speed;
45 to 70 psi (310 to 483 kPa).
The brake oil temperature gauge in-
dicates the temperature of the rear
brake cooling oil during operation.
Maximum operating oil temperature

exceeds this maximum, Brake Oil
Temperature Warning light (39) will
The voltmeter indicates the output
voltage of the battery charging alter-
nator. Normal indicated voltage at
high idle is 27 -- 28 volts. When the
key switch is "On" and engine is not
running, the voltmeter indicates bat-
tery voltage.
