Add, Configure, and Connect: Gateway Network Element

The topics in this section explain how to add a GNE in the Nav Pane, configure it in the Config
Pane, and then connect to it via the configured Connection Type.
NOTE
For a GNE to be added to the Nav Pane, it must already be installed and
turned-up in the network.
Configuration and connection processes for a GNE differ depending on the Connection Type.
Each of the three types is explained separately in the following procedures:
GNE Configuration: TCP/IP – Direct Connection
To add and configure a new GNE, and access the GNE via a Direct TCP/IP connection,
complete the following steps:

Right-click the OPTI-APPS logo in the Nav Pane, and select Add Gateway NE.
A new GNE box appears in the Nav Pane.
Enter configuration data in the Config Pane (refer to
• GNE Name: this can be a generic label
• GNE Type: select the appropriate type (the default is ADTRAN)
• Connection Type: select TCP/IP – Direct
• GNE IP: enter the IP address of the GNE
• FTOT Mode: select Dedicated Session or Shared Session, as appropriate
Click Connect.
If the configuration data is correct, and the GNE is functioning normally, the GNE box in
the Nav Pane should reflect a Connected status, as shown in
