Option/Field
Description
Connect
This button remains grayed-out until the necessary GNE configuration data is entered.
(Disconnect)
Click Connect to attempt to connect to the GNE. On successful connection, this becomes Disconnect.
Click Disconnect to disconnect from the GNE.
OK & Cancel
After making changes to any configuration field, click OK to accept the changes, or click Cancel to restore
the previous setting. This does not apply to drop-down menus, which are accepted automatically.
GNE Name
Enter a name for the GNE in this field, such as the system TID. There is no default for this field, and it can
be left blank. If blank, the connection is identified by the IP address or COM port.
GNE Type
This drop-down menu indicates the manufacturer of the GNE equipment. In addition to ADTRAN (the
default), this menu lists several approved GNEs, plus "Other" for manually configuring a GNE.
Connection
Use this drop-down menu to select one of the following:
• TCP/IP–Direct:
• TCP/IP–Indirect:
• Serial Port:

Depending on the Connection Type specified (refer above) one or more of the following fields appears:
• GNE IP (TCP/IP–Direct or –Indirect):
• Server IP (TCP/IP–Indirect):
• Baud Rate (Serial Port):
• Par-Data-Stop (Serial Port):
GNE Port,
These fields are pre-configured (read-only) per GNE Type (above), but can be set manually if GNE Type is
Max Cmd,
set to Other.
Cmd Window,
GNE Port specifies the TCP port number for the connection (and is not present for a Serial Port option).
& Cmd Gap
The remaining three fields specify the profile for TL1 commands sent to the GNE.
FTOT Mode
File Transfer Over TL1 can only be configured when Connection Type is TCP/IP–Direct. Refer to
on page 25 for details.

Use when a direct IP connection to the GNE is available. This requires an IP
address for the GNE (refer below). This is the default.
Use when a direct IP connection to the GNE is not available but the GNE can be
accessed via a secure server. This requires IP addresses for the GNE and the
secure server (refer below).
One or more serial ports (COM1, COM2, etc.) may be available depending on the
computer in use. This requires a baud rate (refer below).
Enter the GNE IP address (###.###.###.###)
Enter a secure server IP address (###.###.###.###)
Use this drop-down menu to set a baud rate (default: 9600)
This field indicates No parity, 8 data bits, and 1 stop bit
