Installation

This section describes how to install the OPTI-APPS application, plus software necessary for
its operation.

Java Runtime Environment

Being Java-based, OPTI-APPS requires Java Runtime Environment (JRE) version 1.8.0 or later
when using Windows 10 and JRE 1.5.0 when using Windows 7. This section details how to
verify if an appropriate JRE version is already installed. If it is not, further instructions are
included for installing the provided version.
To ensure a compatible version of the JRE is installed, complete the following steps:

From the Windows Start Menu, select Run....

In the Open field, type cmd. Click OK.
A DOS shell and command prompt appears.
At the command prompt, type java –version. Press ENTER.
If the JRE has already been installed, a response message indicates the version number.
For example:
java version "1.5.0_06"
Java (TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_06-b05)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0_06-b05, mixed mode, sharing)
If the required JRE version is installed, skip to
page 5.
Download and install the required version of the JRE, visit http://www.oracle.com.
