OPTI-6100 OPTI-APPS User Guide

FTOT Directory

The FTOT Directory is a user-specified directory for storing OPTI-6100 files on the PC, for file
transfer by OPTI-APPS. The default FTOT directory is the OPTI-APPS application folder,
C:\Documents and Settings\[PC username]\OPTI-APPS\.
To configure a different FTOT directory, select File > FTOT Dir. A dialog appears for speci-
fying the new path and directory. (See

FTOT Mode

When OPTI-APPS connects to an NE, a TL1 session is created for all communications between
the two. FTOT Mode determines if the TL1 session is also shared by FTOT (Shared Session) or
if a second TL1 session is created exclusively for FTOT (Dedicated Session), when FTOT is in use.
NOTE
As a file-transfer protocol, FTOT can require much more bandwidth than
other communications to/from OPTI-APPS. Therefore, FTOT over a
shared session can slow OPTI-APPS performance. A parallel TL1 session
for FTOT leaves other OPTI-APPS functions unaffected, and improves
the efficiency of the FTOT file transfer.
The FTOT-dedicated TL1 session is temporary. It is established when FTOT is used, and is
disconnected once file transfers are completed.
FTOT Mode is only available to GNEs configured for a Connection Type of TCP/IP – Direct.
If configured for TCP/IP – Direct, FTOT Mode defaults to Dedicated Session (but can be
changed to Shared Session).
If Connection Type is TCP/IP – Indirect or Serial Port, FTOT Mode is set to Shared Session,
and cannot be changed.
