Addressing

In RTB systems, the control modules are still configured sequentially in terms of IP addressing and rack
numbering, but each rack contains two CEM+ modules. This means that logical CEM+ rack numbering
is not the same a the physical rack.
For example, here is a RTB system with three RTB ESR racks.
Physical rack 1 contains CEM+ modules configured as rack 1 and rack 2. Rack 2 contains CEM+
modules configured as rack 3 and rack 4 and so on.

Configuration

To configure an RTB system, follow the steps below.
1. Set the rack number and rack IP address in the same manner as shown above. In an RTB rack
each processor must be assigned a unique rack number (and consequently a unique IP address).
2. Ensure all CEM+ units are communicating on the network.
3. From the facepanel of the top CEM+ (A) in the RTB rack generate a rack configuration for the
rack as you would for a standard (non-tracking) Sensor+ rack.
4. From the facepanel of the top CEM+(A) in the RTB rack, login as poweruser.
5. From the facepanel of the top CEM+(A) in the RTB rack, select [Rack], [Add Rack], Racks to Add
[1], Set Rack Type [Tracking].
6. From the facepanel of the top CEM+(A) in the RTB rack, keep pressing [Enter], leaving the
default values until the display asks to 'Save Changes?'. Select [Yes]
7. The CEM+ lower processor (B) will operate as redundant tracking unit.

Operation

When a CEM+ is running in tracking mode, a letter "A" or "B" is shown in the bottom right corner of
the face panel LCD. This shows whether it is the primary (A) or secondary (B) CEM+. The CEM+ that has
control of the rack will display an asterisk "*" next to the letter.
With the processor switch in the centre position, control will default to the primary (A) CEM+. If the
primary (A) CEM+ has errors, it will automatically switch to using the secondary (B) CEM+ for control.
You can also manually switch the between the CEM+ modules by moving the switch to the up or down
positions.
