Sending the SysLog Messages
The SysLog client, embedded in the firmware of the VoIP Gateway, sends error reports/events
generated by the VoIP Gateway application to a SysLog server, using IP/UDP protocol. A SysLog
server is not provided with the VoIP Gateway. However, there are several provided as shareware
that can be downloaded from the Internet.

A typical SysLog server application enables filtering of the messages according to priority, IP
sender address, time, date, ...
Setting the SysLog Server IP Address

Access the web interface.

Click the Advanced Configuration button.

Click the Network Settings tab.
The Network Settings screen appears.

In the SysLog Server IP Address box, enter the IP address of the SysLog Server.

Click the Submit button to save your changes.

To apply the changes, you must reset the VoIP Gateway. To reset the VoIP Gateway:

Click the Reset button.
b Click the Restart button.
A confirmation dialog box appears.

Click the OK button.
Activating the SysLog Client
To activate the SysLog Client, Setting it to 1 enables the SysLog protocol log.
Note: Due to the increase in network traffic caused by the SysLog messages, Nortel
Networks recommends that you do not Enable SysLog for normal operation. You should
enable SysLog only when you are troubleshooting a VoIP Gateway problem.
