Mirror Ringdown Time and Maintenance

Measurement cell mirrors are protected from contamination by an internal inlet filter. With
continued use, the mirrors may gradually decline in reflectivity.
If a significant change occurs in the mirror ringdown time (for example, greater than 20 percent
reduction), the precision of the measurements may be reduced.
Periodically note the ringdown time. If a significant reduction in ringdown time occurs:
Request the ABB Mirror Cleaning kit from ABB.
If further maintenance is required, contact ABB for service.

Table 6: Maintenance Checklist
Inspect measured gas concentrations to ensure that they yield
physically possible values.
Reported methane should always be greater than 1.8 ppm.
Negative reported methane indicates a system failure.
On the Spectrum Display, verify that the spectrum is correct for
each laser. The spectrum should appear as shown in Figure 11
and Figure 12. Become familiar with the normal appearance of
the spectrum (the best way of diagnosing analyzer
performance). Any deviations from normal may indicate a
problem with the analyzer.
Log the transmitted intensity displayed in the upper panel of
the spectrum screen. Any decrease in transmitted intensity may
indicate dirty mirrors.
Log the analyzer pressure. Any decrease in pressure could
indicate an obstruction in the flow system. An increase in
pressure may indicate a leak in the system or a pump failure.
Check the laser offset and adjust if necessary. (Refer to the
Laser Adjust Tab subsection.)
