15. UDP data broadcasting.

During set up, or if the 'Change Lidar settings' button is pressed during data collection, UDP data output can be
enabled or disabled. If the UDP button is enabled from a previously disabled state, then a pop-up window will be
displayed, which allows the selection of the data to be output, and the IP and port information used. There is a limit on
the amount of data that can be transmitted by UDP in one burst, so if overlapping and long range is selected, it may
be possible that some of the data are lost.
Doppler – output for every ray
Intensity – output for every ray
System parameters – output every 2 minutes
An example of some data as received from a working system. Only the first 7 line of sight Doppler values are
displayed, they are tab delimited with a carriage return character following the last one.
081369*pr*d*0.500*70.002*3.00*0.15
The ray's header contains information separated by * characters.
081369 – system serial number
pr – Pro
d – Doppler
0.500 – Azimuth
70.002 – Elevation
3.00 – Line of sight distance between successive points in metres. This is gate overlapped data.
The corresponding intensity ray:
081369*pr*i*0.500*70.002*250*0.967383
081369 – system serial number
pr – Pro
i – Intensity
0.500 – Azimuth
70.002 – Elevation
250 – Number of gates.
System parameters output:
081369*pr*s*26.39 28.69 0.00
This follows the same format as above, but contains a fixed number of elements – namely:
26.39 – Internal temperature
28.69 – Internal humidity

0.00
23.29 – Input voltage
48.75 – Data acquisition card temperature (if enabled)
