    20 Chapter 2 Cabling and LEDS Connecting the Cables Use the following procedure to connect the Contivity’s cables. Warning: Connect the LAN/WAN and serial port cables before you plug the Contivity’s power cord into the outlet. Connect the 10/100BASE-TX LAN RJ-45 connector to the Contivity and all other LAN/WAN connections.

    28 Chapter 2 Cabling and LEDS T1 CSU/DSU WAN interface Note: The T1 CSU/DSU WAN interface cable is not supplied by Nortel Networks. This cable has 8-pin male connectors on each end. The T1 CSU/DSU WAN crossover cable crosses the blue wire pair with the orange wire pair. This is different from the commonly available crossover cable used for 10BaseT, which crosses the green wire pair with the orange wire pair.

    32 Chapter 2 Cabling and LEDS Serial interface cable Nortel Networks ships a serial cable with the Contivity to enable configuration of the Management IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway address, and other configurable parameters. Nortel Networks recommends that you use the IP Address Configuration Utility diskette for easy initial IP address configuration.
