CHECKING THE THROTTLE BODY SENSOR
ASSEMBLY

WARNING
• Do not remove the throttle body sensor as-
sembly.
• Handle the throttle body sensor assembly
with special care.
• Never subject the throttle body sensor as-
sembly to strong shocks. If the throttle
body sensor assembly is dropped, replace
it.
Throttle position sensor
1. Check:
• Throttle position sensor with Yamaha diag-
nostic tool
Connecting the Yamaha diagnostic tool.
Refer to "YAMAHA DIAGNOSTIC TOOL" on
page 8-32.

Intake air pressure sensor
1. Check:
• Intake air pressure sensor
Out of specification → Replace the throttle
body.
Connecting the Yamaha diagnostic tool.

Intake air temperature sensor
1. Check:
• Intake air temperature sensor
Out of specification → Replace the throttle
body.
Connecting the Yamaha diagnostic tool.

CHECKING THE VVA SOLENOID

• Throttle body from vehicle
Refer to "THROTTLE BODY" on page 7-7.
• FID (fast idle solenoid) resistance
a. Connect the multimeter (Ω × 10) to the ter-
minals of the FID (fast idle solenoid).
• Positive tester probe →
FID terminal "1"
• Negative tester probe →
FID terminal "2"

b. Measure the FID (fast idle solenoid) resis-
tance.
Out of specification → Replace the throttle
body assembly.
FID (fast idle solenoid) resistance
31.5–38.5 Ω
• VVA solenoid resistance
Out of specification → Replace.
Resistance
1.8–2.2 Ω at 20 °C (12.0 Ω at
68 °F)
a. Disconnect the VVA solenoid coupler from
the VVA solenoid.
b. Connect the multimeter to the VVA sole-
noid terminal as shown.
