Overview

Messaging Services Provided by e616
Your e616 supports the following messaging services:
Text messaging allows you to send text messages. (160 characters max.)
To send a Text message, the user of the destination phone number must be a Text messaging or service
subscriber.
Video messaging allows you to send messages with files attached. These files include video clips, audio
files, image files, vCards and vCalendar files. A maximum of 60 attachments are allowed per message,
with the total message size not exceeding 100 KB, including the message text. When you receive a video
message you will be notified by a message from the message centre. When you receive a video message
you will be notified by a message from the message centre. Your handset is set to automatically receive
the contents of a video message.
Multimedia messaging allows you to send messages with multimedia files included to be played like
slide show by the recipient. Multimedia files include video clips, audio files, image files and text with the
total message size not exceeding 100KB. When you receive a multimedia message, you will be notified
by a message from the message centre. Yours handset is set to automatically receive the contents of a
multimedia message. Multimedia messaging is available in the 3G and 2.5G area.
Email allows you to send messages to email addresses with attachments. A maximum of 60
attachments are allowed per message, with the total data size not exceeding 100 KB, including the
message text. Attachable files include ringtunes, images, audio, video and other types of files. You can
attach files such as Word, Excel, Power Point but you cannot read/edit these on your handset, you can
only forward these to another email address. You can set a total of 70 addressees for To, Cc (Carbon
Copy), and Bcc (Blind Carbon Copy) fields of an email. There are two types of Email server: POP3 and
IMAP4. With a POP3 server, your email is received and stored in the handset, while with IMAP4 the
received email is stored on the email server. The list of email in the Remote mailbox is synchronised
with the email stored on the IMAP4 server.
Email service is only available in the 3G area.
Maximum Number of Characters
The maximum number of characters are defined as the number of single-byte characters (alphanumeric
characters, etc.) allowed in a field/item. If a double or triple byte character such as a special symbol is used,
the number of characters allowed will vary accordingly. (Refer to Text entry on page 30 for details.)
Supported Attachment Types
The following shows the supported attachment types that can be played/used by e616 (these files can be
attached to messages and transferred between your handset and PC).
Video: 3GPP, MPEG4, WMV, H.263 baseline
Audio: MIDI, MPEG4-AAC, MP3, WMA, AMR
