Print style priorities
It is possible that two typestyles that cannot be combined will be
selected, either by the SelecType feature, the DIP switches or both.
In this case, the printer uses an internal priority schedule to deter-
mine which of the two incompatible typestyles will be used.
Emphasized - Condensed - Pica
Thus, for example, if condensed printing has been selected by the
DIP switches and emphasized is then selected by software, printing
will be performed in emphasized. When emphasized is cancelled,
however, condensed printing will again be selected.
Also remember that the typestyle set by the DIP switches will al-
ways be in effect when the printer is turned off and then on or
otherwise initialized.

SelecType Cautions and Tips
Any mode you turn on with SelecType will stay in effect until the
printer is turned off. If, for example, you use SelecType to print a
document in emphasized, anything you print after that will be
emphasized unless you first turn the printer off and back on.
Any of the typestyles in this chapter can be set to be the default style
(the mode assumed by the printer when it is first turned on). This
setting is performed with a special switch located at the back of the
printer. See Appendix D for details.

This chart shows the sequences used to obtain the five typestyles and
combinations available using SelecType. Simply press the ON LINE
(OL), LF (Line Feed), and FF (Form Feed) switches on the control
panel of the GX-80 following the sequences shown below.
