S42 Enable / Disable Auto Rate
Unit: decimal
Range: 0-1
Default: 1 (enabled)
Enables and disables the 56K auto rate. Retrain and fallback are disabled in data mode. Set
S42 to zero (0) to disable auto rate, or 1 (the default) to enable auto rate.
S43 Enable / Disable V.32bis Start-up Auto Mode
Unit: decimal
Range: 0-1
Default: 1 (enabled)
Used for testing and debugging only. Enables and disables V.32bis start-up auto mode
operation. Set S43 to zero (0) to disable start-up auto mode, or 1 (the default) to enable start-
up auto mode.
S89 Off-line Time
Unit: 1 second
Range: 0, 5-255
Default: 0
Sets the length of time, in seconds, a modem waits in the off-line command mode before it
goes into standby mode. If S89 is set to 20 seconds, the modem waits 20 seconds in off-line
command mode before going into standby mode. Setting S89 to zero (0) prevents the modem
from ever entering standby mode.
Setting S89 to any value between zero and five (1-4) effectively sets the value to five, because
five seconds is the minimum possible wait time.
S108 Line Code Control
Unit: Decimal
Range: 0, 1
Default: 1
Controls the line coding used by the modem.
S108 = 0
S108 = 1
S109 PCM Mode Control
Unit: Decimal
Range: 0–2
Default: 1
Controls the PCM (pulse code modulation) mode (V.90 or K56Flex). Determines which
mode the modem will answer in for PCM connections.
