Clearing the error logs
For complete information about using the BIOS Setup Utility program, see the
User's Guide.
To clear the error logs, complete the following steps:
1. Turn on the server.
2. When the prompt Press F1 for BIOS Setup appears, press F1. If you have set

POST error codes
The following table describes the POST error codes and suggested actions to
correct the detected problems.
v Follow the suggested actions in the order in which they are listed in the Action column until the problem
is solved.
v See Chapter 3, "Parts listing, Type 7942 server," on page 37 to determine which components are customer
replaceable units (CRU) and which components are field replaceable units (FRU).
v If an action step is preceded by "(Trained service technician only)," that step must be performed only by a
trained service technician.

v To view the BMC system event log, select Advanced –> IPMI configuration
–> View BMC System Event Log.

v To clear the event log, select Advanced –> Event Log Configuration –>
Clear Event Log.
v To clear the BMC system event log, select Advanced –> IPMI configuration
–> Clear BMC System Event Log.
Action
1. Run the BIOS Setup Utility program, make sure
that the date and time are correct, select Exit →
Load Default Settings → Save Changes and
Exit.
2. Reseat the battery.
3. Clear CMOS memory. See "System-board
switches" on page 11 for information about how to
clear CMOS memory.
4. Replace the following components one at a time,
in the order shown, restarting the server each
time:
a. Battery
b. (Trained service technician only) System
board
