Replacing the NVRAM PCI Card

Restoring Power to the Server

With the help of an assistant, replace the server in the rack.

Reattach all cables to the rear of the server.

Press the power button on the front of the server.

It is normal for the NVRAM Fault LED to be flashing or not lit at this point.
Note
It indicates that the NVRAM batteries are recharging. However, if the Remove or
Fault LED is solid (and you are not pressing the Test LED button), this may
indicate a problem with the NVRAM card.

Performing the LED Test

A Test LED button is provided on the back of the NVRAM card. After
powering on the server, verify that all LEDs on the replacement card work .
The LED test only verifies that the LEDs are illuminating properly. It does not

verify NVRAM card functionality.
Press the Test LED button on the back of the NVRAM card momentarily and

then release. Do not continue to press the button down.
Ensure that the Fault and Remove LEDs on the back of the card light up when

the test is peformed.

Preparing the NVRAM PCI Card for Return

Remove the red jumpers from their charge position (resting on both posts) and

replace jumpers in the off position (resting on a single post).
Package the old card in the anti-static bag the replacement arrived in.

Place the anti-static bag between the foam packing in the shipping carton.

Seal the carton with the old NVRAM card inside and return it to the Overland
4
Storage repair center.
