1. Product Overview

1-1. Overview

Th is product is a scale system that outputs position signals for machine tools and other equipment that
require high-precision positioning. It supports SIEMENS DRIVE-CLiQ serial communication. Scale units
of models that support the online diagnosis function are compatible with specialized online diagnostic
soft ware (supplied separately) that can be installed in SIEMENS SINUMERIK systems.

1-2. Features

• Scale - sensor head separated type with a simple structure.
• Th e scale and the sensor head both have sealed structures that achieve an IP67 degree of protection.
• Th e sensor head and connection cable are connected by a detachable connector. Th is simplifi es installing
the sensor head and connecting the cable.
• Installation of a scale cover increases durability in adverse environments.
• Th e connection cable is designed to allow connection to either end of the sensor head. Th e cable can
therefore be routed from the left or right depending on the installation location.
• Includes a built-in function for correcting variations in scale signal levels for enabling high-precision
positioning. High-precision correction function developed exclusively by Magnescale Co., Ltd. is used
to realize high precision and high resolution.
• Th e unit contains a SIEMENS DRIVE-CLiQ interface chip to enable direct connection to a compatible
controller.
