Quick Installation Guide for Basler dart Cameras

1.1 General Preparations

The following items must be available before starting installation:
A Basler dart USB 3.0 camera. Three variants are available:
dart bare board,
dart CS-mount, and
dart S-mount.
If you want to use I/O signals: an I/O cable that meets the requirements indicated in the Basler
dart User's Manual for USB 3.0 Cameras (AW0001305).
A USB 3.0 cable.
A PC with USB 3.0 port. The port can be realized via a mainboard-based host adapter or via a
separately installed host adapter card. For recommendations, see Section 1.2.
Internet access
If you have access to a storage device containing all required drivers, you do not need Internet
access.
Depending on the application you use the Basler dart camera in, you may also require the following
items:
Mounting devices
Cooling devices
A suitable lens.
Contact your Basler sales representative to order suitable cable assemblies.
1.2 USB 3.0 Host Controller
Recommendations
Basler recommends the following host controller chipsets as they work well with Basler USB 3.0
cameras:
Renesas USB 3.0 host controller chipsets
The Renesas chipsets are for example used on ASUS PCIE USB3 host adapters.
Intel Ivy bridge host controller chipsets.
Evaluations of other USB 3.0 host controller chipsets are continuously updated. Contact Basler
technical support for the latest information about other recommended chipsets.
