Screwdriver
Tips on Inserting/Removing Screws
• Rinsing the screw with NaCl helps reduce friction and eases screw insertion.
• It is easier to insert the screw perpendicular to the bone, rather than at an angle.
• If the patient has a high bone density, you can optionally predrill in order to facilitate the
inserting of the screw into the bone
• Generally, the weight of the screwdriver is sufficient for the removal of the screw from the bone.
Placing too much pressure on the head of the screw may cause the head of the screw to be torn
out of the bone when the screwdriver is removed. Excess pressure could also cause the head of
the screw to split or break.
