Introduction
The Vario Reference Arm (Mayfield Headholder) (52001) creates a flexible and extended
attachment of the Standard Cranial Reference Array onto the Mayfield Modified Skull Clamp.

Loosening the Arm
Warning
Do not grip the Vario Reference Arm (Mayfield Headholder) at the ball joints while the
central tension handle is unfastened as you could injure your fingers.
Warning
Never loosen the central tension handle without gripping the articulated arm with your
other hand. The Vario Reference Arm could fall on the patient.
Warning
Loosen the mechanism by turning the central tension handle counterclockwise until it
stops and avoid using any additional force. Hold the articulated arm firmly with one hand

Attach the unsterile Standard Cranial Reference Array ⑤ to the array connector ③, se-
curing it with the fixation nut ④.
To position the array, turn the central tension handle ② counterclockwise to loosen it.
Adjust the arm ① to the desired position and securely re-tighten the handle by turning it
clockwise.
