TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE

Under certain conditions, performance of the unit may be adversely affected by factors other than defects.
If problems occur, please review the following list and take corrective action as needed. If problem
Persists, please contact LABOMED or your local LABOMED dealer.
OBSERVATION
1. Although the illumination is on,
the field of view is dark.
2. Dirt or dust is visible in the field
of view.
3. Visibility is poor.
- Image is not sharp.
- Contrast is not sharp.
- Details are indistinct.
- Phase contrast effect cannot be
obtained.
4. One side of image is blurred.
5. The bulb flickers and the
Brightness is unstable.
6. The coarse adjustment knob is too
Difficult to rotate.
7. The field of view of one eye does
not match that of the other.

CAUSE
The socket pin is not connected to
the illumination column at the back
of the instrument.
The bulb is burned out.
The light intensity control is set to
too low.
The objective is not in position.
Fuse is blown.
Dirt/dust on the specimen.
Dirt/dust on the eyepieces.
The objective is not correctly
engaged.
The aperture iris diaphragm is
opened or stopped down too far in
brightfield observation.
The light annulus of the condenser
does not match the phase annulus
and phase
The revolving nosepiece is not
correctly engaged
The specimen is not correctly
mounted on the stage.
The optical performance of the
culture vessel bottom plate is poor.
The line voltage fluctuates
The bulb is nearly burned out.
The power cord is not connecting
securely.
The tension adjustment ring is
tightened too much.
The tension adjustment ring is
loosened too much.
Incorrect interpupilary distance
adjustment.
Incorrect diopter adjustment.

REMEDY
Connect it securely.
Replace the bulb.
Set the illumination to desired position.
Make sure the objective is clicked
properly.
Replace fuses (250V / 5 Amps)
Clean the specimen.
Clean them thoroughly.
Replace it with a clean specimen.
Clean eyepieces gently.
Adjust the aperture.
Overlap / adjust Phase annuli position.
Make sure that the revolving nosepiece
clicks properly into place.
Place it correctly on the stage.
Use a vessel with a good profile
Irregularity characteristic.
Use a voltage stabilizer.
Replace the bulb.
Connect it securely.
Loosen it appropriately.
Tighten it appropriately.
Adjust the interpupilary distance.
Adjust the diopter.
