1 Enter the IP address of the PS-17 into a browser.
Note: As a security measure, WebTools is designed to work only over Hyper Text Transfer Protocol Secure
(HTTPS). By default, WebTools uses a self-signed certificate created by the PS-17. This causes the web
browser to display a certificate error while you access WebTools. It is safe to ignore this message and proceed
to access WebTools.
2 Confirm the PS-17 is in the Idle state.
3 In WebTools, click the Backup and Restore > Fiery System Image and then click Schedule Backup.
4 Select Enable automatic backup.
5 Select the backup time.
6 Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the backup.
Restore the PS-17 system using Backup and Restore
If the hard disk is not booting, the system must be restored from a bootable backup. If it becomes
CAUTION
necessary to restore the PS-17 from a bootable image, contact your service technician.
Before you restore the PS-17, we recommend that you contact technical support to confirm the
CAUTION
necessity of restoring.
This procedure overwrites all data, customizations, and software updates implemented on the
CAUTION
PS-17 since the customized backup image was created. It also overwrites any backup image that is
stored locally. If you restore from a factory default image, all data is lost.
A customized image can only be restored to the same PS-17 unit from which it was created.
CAUTION
1 If applicable, attach the external hard drive or USB containing the image to the PS-17.
2 In WebTools, click Backup and Restore > Fiery Resources and Settings.
3 Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the restore.
4 Optional: After restoring the PS-17, run System Updates to ensure the latest PS-17 software version is
installed, or request the service technician to install the patches.
5 Optional: If a backup of the configuration settings is available, restore the configuration settings as described
in this document.
This can be useful if the configuration backup is more current than the system image backup (such as if you
restored from factory default), or if the configuration backup included the job log and VDP/FreeForm
resources.
Fiery Clone Tool
With the Fiery Clone Tool, you can back up the contents of the PS-17 hard disk to an image file, and then save the
image file to a folder on the PS-17 hard disk or a USB storage device connected to the PS-17.
Note: The image created by the Fiery Clone Tool can be used to restore multiple PS-17 units.
