ing diaphragm to the yoke - carefully make note
of order of parts as they are disassembled. Now
the diaphragm may be inspected or replaced.
6. Reassembe in reverse order.
SHAFT COUPLING MAINTENANCE
Refer to Figures 7-6, 7-7, 7-8 and 7-9. When in-
stalling and aligning the drive coupling, utilization of
a laser or dial indicator arrangement is recom-
mended. For coupling installation and alignment,
the tools required are a straight edge, a measuring
scale, one set of feeler gauges, a set of standard
Allen wrenches and one set of standard socket
wrenches.
Disconnect all power at source before at-
tempting
maintenance
Follow lockout procedures (See Safety
Section).

2. Loosen and remove all capscrews securing each
flexible element half to the shaft hubs.
3. Inspect each element body for signs of tears or
separation away from the metal flanges - if any
faults are found, elements must be replaced and
Sullair
contacted for further assistance.
4. Reassemble in reverse order. Capscrews must
be re-torqued to 30 ft.-lbs. (40.7Nm) (dry). Please
note that capscrews have self-locking patches
good for two
re-uses, but the application of a thread-locking ad-
hesive increases this number.
DO NOT lubricate capscrew threads.
Please note that replacement of either shaft hub re-
quires the removal of the motor, an operation best
handled by Sullair personnel.
INSPECTION/REMOVAL OF FLEXIBLE ELE-
MENT- 200HP/ 149KW
For installation and maintenance of the drive cou-
pling, follow the steps explained below.
STEP 1 MOUNT HUBS - Mount the motor hub and
the compressor hub on its respective shaft. Position
the hubs to establish the correct gap specified in
Table 1. Secure each hub with a setscrew.
STEP 2 OFFSET ALIGNMENT - Clean any oil,
grease, dirt or paint from coupling faces and the
other surfaces of the drive flanges. Rotate shafts so
that a straight edge will rest squarely (or within the
maximum limit shown in Table 1) on both flanges
and at a point 90º away. The vertical offset align-
ment is adjusted by the addition or removal of motor
mounting shims. Loosen the motor mounting bolts
