Using the FS-Series Utility

The FS-Series Utility works with the PPDs like the FS-Series Driver, but performs
more network and management functions than job related functions. In the Utility, the
user can view the list of network Postscript printers. To start the Utility, double click
on the FS-Series Utility icon located on the desktop.
Components of the FS-Series Utility are described below.
• PostScript Printers- presents a list of the network Postscript printers. Any of the
listed printers can be selected by the FS-Series Utility.
• AppleTalk Zones- displays the AppleTalk zones established for the Macintosh
network.
• Printer Info- queries and displays the following information for the selected printer:
Product Name
Startup Page
Save Nesting Levels Total Pages Printed
PostScript Language Level
• Print Requested Info- a check box for instructing the utility to send information to
the printer when Printer Info or List Fonts is selected.
• Help- links to the Help module for the FS-Series Utility.
• Printer is Silent- disables the Send Fonts and Printer Info button. It is a seldom used
function of FS-Series printers.
• Update Lists- queries the network printers, displaying any printers currently
available on the network and in the currently selected zone.
• List Fonts- queries the printer for the available fonts. It will display a simple list of
the fonts. For printed output, select the Print Requested Info box at the bottom of
the screen.
