    These instructions describe the installation into the FS-600 but would be similarly applicable to any Kyocera printer with the slide-in interface. 1. Remove the two screws securing the interface slot cover on the rear panel of the printer and discard the interface slot cover.

    ENTER ration, then select Printer Configuration. Select Printer 0 and define a more meaningful name for the printer if desired. The printer name is displayed in various NetWare printing messages, such as when notifying users that their job is completed.
  • Page 7 6. Confirm Successful Configuration. Turn the printer off and on and wait for a powerup network status page to print. If the network is large, the powerup status page may take several minutes to print. (Note: This time may be reduced by setting a Preferred File Server for the 2000E with the Management Access Program.

    This is where the Print Server, Printer, and Queue will be located. If this is not the desired context for these objects, use the following procedure to change the current context.
  • Page 9 Press F10 to save this configuration and return to the PCONSOLE main menu. 4. Optional: Assign queue users, select printer notification options, and/or define a Print Server password. If a Print Server password is defined, make a note of it as it must be duplicated exactly during setup with the Management Access Program.
  • Page 10 After a few seconds the screen should report that the update was successful. Click the Back Arrow icon twice to return to the 2000E Configuration page. Optional: Click on Configure Status Page in the Printer column to define powerup status page settings, (e.g. disabling the powerup status page).

    Macintosh Configuration KPDL II, Kyocera’s PostScript compatible mode is required for Macintosh printing. KPDL II is standard on some printers, such as the FS/LS-800, 1700+ and 3700+, while it is an option on other models, such as the FS/LS-600 and 7000. If KPDL II is installed it will appear in the Emulation list on the Status page.

    If Using Peer to Peer over IP Configure the 2000E IP address with DHCP (page 18), with the printer front panel (page 19), or with the NTBOOTP utility (page 15), then return to this section to complete peer to peer printing installation.

    Windows NT Configuration There are several options for setting up printing in a Windows NT environment. If a NetWare server is present, NetWare print services may be used by following the NetWare configuration instructions in this guide. Peer to peer print services may be used by following the Windows Peer to Peer Printing instructions in this guide, but are only available for Windows NT 4.0, not for Windows NT 3.51.
  • Page 15 For TCP/IP configuration with DHCP, see page 18. For non-DHCP environments, the TCP/IP parameters may be set using the printer front panel instructions on page 19. For remote setup or for printers not supporting front panel setup, the following NTBOOTP utility instructions may be used.

    5. In the Name of printer or print queue on that server: field, enter any desired port name, e.g. LPR1 and click on OK to return to the Printer Properties dialog. 6. If the printer is to be shared, click on the checkbox next to Share this printer on the network. Click on OK when finished.

    TCP/IP configuration of the 2000E is needed for all versions of UNIX. Use the instructions on page 19 to set TCP/IP parameters with the printer front panel or refer to the User’s manual for other TCP/IP setup methods. Lpd configuration depends upon the mode selected and the UNIX system in use.

    If you prefer not to use DHCP for IP address assignment, it may be disabled with the printer front panel, with the MAP utility, or by connecting to the 2000E IP address with a browser. The enable/disable DHCP setting may be found in the Setup TCP/IP section...

    Front Panel Setup Firmware Requirements Following are the firmware levels required for front panel setup capability. The firmware level of the printer is listed as Software version on the printer status page. The 2000E firmware version is listed on the EcoLAN 2000E status page.
