Dishwasher detergents, rinse aids and dishwasher salts

Adding dishwasher salt

Dishwasher salt is a special salt designed to
reduce water hardness. This helps prevent
limescale deposits in the appliance and on
dishes.
NOTICE
Risk of damage to property!
You may damage the appliance, its
stainless steel surface, its seals and fi l-
ters by using dishwasher salt in an im-
proper manner.
■ Use only dishwasher salt which is suit-
able for dishwashers.
■ Always wipe away split dishwasher
salt immediately with a damp cloth.
■ Immediately after adding the dish-
washer salt, launch a dishwashing
programme.
You do not need to add dishwasher
salt to the dishwasher salt dispens-
er (24),
– if you are only using multitabs which al-
ready contain dishwasher salt,
– if the water hardness in your area is in the
0–5° dH range.
Add dishwasher salt:
– prior to using the appliance for the first
time,
– when the "Add dishwasher salt" indi-
cator
(2) lights up.

1. Remove the lower dish rack (22).
2. Turn the cover of the dishwasher salt dis-
penser (24) in an anti-clockwise direction
and remove it.
3. Upon first use: Add 1.5 l water to the dish-
washer salt chamber (24) so that the dish-
washer salt doesn't clump.

4. Place the supplied filling funnel (35) on
the dispenser opening.
5. Add dishwasher salt up to the edge of the
compartment. Water may come out; this
is not a problem.
6. Stir the dishwasher salt using the end of
a spoon or similar.
7. Turn the cover of the dishwasher salt dis-
penser (24) in a clockwise direction up to
the stop point.
8. Replace the lower dish rack (22).
9. Launch a dishwashing programme
straight away or carry out a test run im-
mediately upon first use using (see "Test
(2)
run" on page EN-39).
