PREFACE
Locating Information
This paragraph describes several documentation tools included in this
publication, to assist you in navigating through the book.
Contents
The Contents section is a good place to begin searching for information in this
publication, since it is an outline of the book.
Topic Summaries
There is a Topic Summary on the beginning of each section in this publication.
It provides a (miniature) table of contents for the section. For example, the
Topic Summary in the Supporting DOS Applications section provides an index to
each of the DOS applications, including a topic title, the name of each
application, and the page number where that topic is described.
Tabs
Since various paragraphs throughout the book refer to information in other
sections, the "bleeding tabs" (located along the right margin) are provided to
assist you in locating sections quickly.
Index
The Index section, at the end of this publication, also provides a quick method of
locating information. It is divided into three subsections, as described above.

PEN*KEYR 6400 Programmer's Reference Guide
The Files Index (at the end of this publication) is probably the most useful
source, because it is a fairly comprehensive list of file names that appear in
the book.
The Contents is another source for locating applications. If the topic
describes an application, the name of that application is included in the
paragraph title.
The Topic Summary, (at the beginning of each section) is a mini-table of
contents for the topics included in that section. If the topic describes an
application, the name of that application is included in the Topic Summary.
Table 1-2, DOS Device Drivers, in Section 1, Getting Started, on page
1-18, includes the major device drivers supported for your 6400 computer.
A few Utility Programs are briefly described in Section 1, Getting Started,
beginning on of page 1-19.
