Starting and Adjusting the Pump

1. Ensure the pump air motor regulator (BE) is closed.
Set the ram air regulator (BB) to about 50 psi (3.5
bar, 0.35 MPa). Set the ram director switch/valve
(BC) to DOWN.
2. Start the pump as explained in the separate pump
instruction manual.
3. Keep the ram director switch/valve (BC) set to
DOWN while the pump is operating.
NOTES ON ADJUSTING PRESSURE:
If the pump does not prime properly with heavier
fluids, increase air pressure to the ram.
If fluid is forced out around the wiper seal, decrease
pressure to the ram.
For diaphragm pump models, adjust DOWN
pressure to the minimum level to ensure that the
pump inlet balls seat properly.

Changing Drums

Moving parts can pinch, cut, or amputate fingers and
other body parts. Keep your hands and fingers away
from the priming piston, ram plate, and lip of drum
during operation and whenever the pump or ram is
charged with air.
1. Stop the pump. Close the Air motor switch/slider
valve (BF).
2. Set the ram director switch/valve (BC) to UP to raise
the ram.
3. Raise the ram until the ram plate is completely out
of the drum. Leave the ram control in the UP setting.
4. If the ram raises the drum off the base, use air
assist valve (BG) to help lift the ram plate.
Excessive air pressure in the material drum could
cause the drum to rupture, causing serious injury and
equipment damage. The ram plate must be free to
move out of the drum. Never use drum blowoff air
assist with a damaged drum.
5. Remove the empty drum.
6. Inspect the ram plate and, if necessary, remove any
remaining material or buildup.
7. Place a full drum on the ram base.
