Carrying out measurements

5.0 Carrying out measurements
Prior to any temperature measurement it has to be en-
sured, that the surface to be measured is not live. Fail-
ure to comply with this prescription can lead to serious
operator injury or instrument damage.
The thermocouples may only be touched at handles
provided. Any contact with metal parts has to be im-
peratively avoided.
In order to avoid burns, the UUT may only be touched
via measurement probe.
Imperatively respect specified thermocouple meas-
urement ranges. The instrument measurement range
is not identical with the thermocouple measurement
range.
Only use thermocouples of type Ni Cr/Ni Al with type K
connection.
In order to obtain the most accurate results the following
points must be observed:
For measurement of liquid, paste or solid material, the
insertion depth of the sensor must be approx. 15 to 20
items greater than its diameter.
For measurement of surface temperatures, there must
be reasonable heat contact between the sensor and the
object to be measured, i.e. the sensor must be placed
vertically on to the surface of the object. The use of ther-
mal conductivity paste is suggested (Refer to list of ac-
cessories available).
