Sub-BIOS Systems for SCSI Controllers

There are three SCSI BIOS systems that may be loaded on HP V
Workstations, each to the exclusion of each other.
HP V
Personal Workstations can be divided into two groups: those equipped with
ISUALIZE
HP FastRAID accessory and those not. Depending on whether a particular model has HP
FastRAID, one of two Adaptec sub-BIOS systems will be loaded: either Adaptec 7880 BIOS
or Adaptec Array1000 BIOS. If no HP FastRAID card is detected during boot-up, the
Adaptec 7880 BIOS will be loaded. If, on the other hand, an HP FastRAID card is installed,
Adaptec Array1000 BIOS will be loaded without loading the Adaptec 7880 BIOS.
NOTE
Only one of the above Adaptec SCSI BIOS systems may be loaded.
In addition, all models of HP V
LAN+SCSI Combo board, which contains a Symbios Logic 16-bit SCSI controller. This
controller is configured by a third sub-BIOS system, Symbios SCSI BIOS, which is
described in detail in the section "Symbios Logic SCSI Configuration Utility" in this
chapter.
