Preparing for Installation
Before you begin the installation procedures in this chapter:
1. If you have not already done so, perform the procedures found in the Sun
StorEdge L1000 Unpacking Guide.
These procedures explain how to move the library to the installation site, remove
it from its shipping carton, and remove internal packing materials. For your
convenience, unpacking instructions have also been included in the appendixes of
this guide.
2. Check the packing list or the parts list found in the Sun StorEdge L1000 Unpacking
Guide to make sure all necessary parts are available for installation.
Note – The customer must supply all SCSI cabling between the library and host
computer(s).
3. Make sure the tools and equipment listed in
installation.

4. Protect the library from electrostatic discharge (ESD) by:
a. Connecting the library to a grounded power outlet during installation
b. Avoiding direct contact with static-sensitive components
c. Wearing an antistatic wristband
5. Make sure the installation site meets or exceeds all applicable power requirements
and physical and environmental specifications.
