Multiple Chassis Configuration – Dante Default (Unicast)
The default Multi-Chassis operating mode is set to use Unicast streaming . This requires much less network
configuration and lower equipment requirements, but it comes with a lower limitation for sending streams . This
configuration can support an average of four chassis . Of course, design and application play a large part .
Unicast Overview
When a chassis requests a non-internal source (all sources for the EL-IPD-AMP-EXT), it requests the source
from the hosting chassis . If the hosting chassis has an available transmit stream, it will then send the source to
the chassis using one of the available streams .
The chassis can then internally distribute the source as needed . For instance, if the chassis has four internal
zones (with two requesting the same source) . The source is sent to that chassis once, therefore using one of
its available streams (not two) .
If another chassis requests the same source, that source is sent again to the new chassis using another stream
for the same source . Each source can use more than one stream, depending on its use . As a system gets larger,
it's much more efficient to send audio via Multi-cast .

Example 1: Sending the same source to 2 different chassis
In this example, we show that sending the same source to two different chassis counts as separate streams .
