DESIGN GUIDE

Maximizing Zones

Speaker Configuration

When considering the number of zones and speakers needed, keep in mind that a zone is not a speaker and
a speaker is not a zone . Zones can consist of one speaker output, multiple speaker outputs, preamp outputs
or a combination of speaker and preamp outputs . Distributed audio is rarely used where stereo separation is
needed, other than a media zone where there is a defined listening area .
Tips:
• When connecting two 8Ω speakers to a single speaker output, the impedance will drop to 4Ω . Be certain
to set this correctly in Configurator .
• To maximize the number of zones, consider using a single speaker in bathrooms or other small rooms, or
use two speakers connected to one speaker output in Mono .
• Use a preamp output to add a subwoofer to any zone .
