Cleaning

NOTE
Even accessories designed to be reused (e.g. after cleaning)
have a limited service life. Due to a number of factors
connected with handling and cleaning (e.g. disinfectant
residues can attack the material more intensely during
autoclaving), increased wear can occur and the service life
can be markedly shortened. If there are any external signs of
wear such as cracks, deformations, discolorations, peeling
materials or the like, these accessories have to be replaced.

Stripping down

Lift the phototherapy lamp off the stand.
Wipe off any obvious stains with a disposable cloth.

Disinfecting and cleaning

Use only preparations classified as "surface disinfectants" for
disinfecting.
For material compatibility, we recommend preparations based
on:
– aldehydes
– quaternary ammonium compounds.
Due to the chemical composition and direct effect on material
compatibility, preparations based on the following components
are of only limited suitability:
– halogen-releasing compounds
– strong organic acids
– oxygen-releasing compounds.
In general, the manufacturer's recommendations must be
followed when selecting the preparation. The manufacturer is
legally liable for the information concerning the range of
applications and possible material damage caused by these
preparations.
NOTE
Do not use any disinfectants or cleaning agents containing
alcohol.
For users in the Federal Republic of Germany, we recommend
the use of disinfectants listed in the current DGHM list
(DGHM = German Society for Hygiene and Microbiology).
The DGHM list (published by mhp-Verlag GmbH, Wiesbaden)
also specifies the active basis of each disinfectant.
For countries where the DGHM list is unavailable, we
recommend products based on the above active bases.
The following surface disinfectants can be recommended:
®
Dismozon
pur
Bode Chemie GmbH & Co, Hamburg
®

Henkel Hygiene GmbH, Düsseldorf
®

Follow the manufacturer's instructions for use.
Instructions for Use Photo-Therapy 4000
Wipe-disinfecting the phototherapy lamp
Wipe off obvious stains using a disposable cloth and
detergent.
Wipe-disinfect surfaces.
After disinfecting, wipe surfaces again with a clean damp
cloth and then dry thoroughly.
Do not allow any liquid to get into the lamp.
CAUTION
Use only the recommended cleaning agents and
disinfectants, as there is a risk of tension cracks in the acrylic
glass if, for instance, alcohol is used.
CAUTION
Do not allow any liquids to penetrate the inside of the
phototherapy unit or to come in contact with the light bulbs.
Otherwise the correct functioning of the device may be
compromised.
After each care/cleaning/disinfecting operation,
check that the unit is functioning correctly.
