Insert probe snugly into ear, completely closing

off ear canal. Position probe towards patient's
opposite temple, press SCAN button, and wait
for beep.
For optimum control,
obtain a temperature in the
patient's right ear if you are
right-handed. Use the
patient's left ear if you
are left-handed.
After approximately
1 second, a single beep
will sound to indicate that
the temperature has been
taken.

Technique," for important information about the tech-
nique required to obtain accurate temperatures.
